I've read this book and found it absolutely gorgeous, so along with revealing the cover for Nicola, I am going to hold a contest! More details on that below.
Drumroll for the cover....
Seventeen-year-old Cara Page Knows what mark she's going to get on her English test next week. She knows in three days her history teacher is going to be late because his car broke down. She knows she's going to give the new boy a nose bleed on his first day.
She knows because every night she dreams of the future, and every day those dreams come true.
Now she's dreaming of a boy, and a future that can't be real. Because if it is, then everything she thought was myth and legend is actually true, and there is an evil coming that will tear the country apart.
Lance Filwer is a boy with secrets of his own, and a past full of mistakes he can't undo. Cara is his second chance, his chance to succeed where he failed before - if only she'll trust him enough to let him help her.
Cara needs to know what's happening, but the answer lies in a long forgotten past, and an ancient legend. To find it Cara will have to travel into the depths of Wales, and the heart of ancient Britain.
With Wraiths, creatures from the darkest of myths, dogging her every move, Cara knows it's only a matter of time before they catch up with her. And myth or not, they will kill her.
Her only hope is Lance, and the birth right she must claim, if she is to prevent the future she has foreseen.

I'm a romantic so I have to say Lancelot and Guinevere at my favourite part of Arthurian Legend. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it most because there's so many different versions of it and I love reading them all! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this Sharon! And the lovely ladies above have mentioned two of my favourite things about King Arthur mythology too!
ReplyDeleteBasically what Gwen said. Everyone has their own take on Arthurian Mythology, and I think each take is fun and unique. Plus, anything King Arthur HAS to be filled with magic, romance and political intrigue. All my faves!! :D
ReplyDeleteStory of Excalibur. I love it!
ReplyDeleteUm....magic -check....romance-check....political intrigue....a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing ok then.
And Excalibur....oh yes!
I think my favorite thing about it is similar to what Gwen said, that there are so many ways it can be played with and rewritten and people are still able to create works of their own from it even today. :)
ReplyDeleteSince the mythology about King Arthur has lasted so long, there is obviously a lot of interest in his life. There was Merlin, the magician. The knights who met at a Round Table and carried out acts of chivalry such as rescuing damsels in distress and fought against strange beasts. And then King Arthur's marriage to Guinevere and the stories about his half sister, Morgan le Fay.

My favourite thing about King Arthur mythology is the weaving together of magic and folklore, of history and fiction. I'm a sucker for all things Merlin :P
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading this book!
She's hot.
